Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine is a scientific approach that uses thorough medical history and the latest in laboratory testing to assess the functional ability of the three major body systems, the neuroendocrine function, digestion, and the detox pathways. Once the origin of disease is identified, medical grade supplements, herbal medicine, nutrition and lifestyle changes are used to restore health and vitality.

Lab Testing

A nutritional analysis that measures over 125 key nutrient biomarkers that can help identify nutritional deficiencies that may be a root cause of complex chronic conditions. Over time functional nutritional inadequacies can contribute to depression, anxiety, fatigue, digestive complaints, chronic pain and inflammation including musculoskeletal and migraines. This test can also identify cardiovascular risk, aid in weight issues, provide dietary guidance, as well as improve general health and sports fitness optimization. Organic acids, fat-soluble vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, homocysteine, oxidative stress markers, nutrient and toxic elements, fatty acids, and amino acids are all evaluated.
Research shows that gut health impacts overall health. The gut microbiome plays a critical role in mediating the effects of diet and other factors on health, including digestive, immune, metabolic and neuroendocrine functions. This test is thus indicated for autoimmune diseases, digestive complaints including diarrhea, constipation, IBS/IBD, brain fog, skin problems such as acne, psoriasis and eczema, depression, anxiety, weight loss problems and diabetes. Pediatric use includes Attentional Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, and digestive complaints. Inflammation, dysbiosis and digestive insufficiency are evaluated as well as bacterial, parasitic, fungal and viral infections identified.
This test measures both IgE or immediate response food allergies as well as IgG or delayed response food sensitivities which are more difficult to identify as it can take up to 72 hours for symptoms to manifest.
This test measures your natural circadian diurnal cortisol rhythm and helps identify Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) dysregulation. Imbalances in adrenal hormones include fatigue, insomnia, digestive complaints, weight gain, depression, chronic pain, hypertension, diabetes and metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative disease and cognitive decline.

Other Tests

  • Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut)
  • Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Thyroid
  • Hormones
  • Toxicity and Heavy Metals
  • Advanced Cardiometabolic
  • Genetics: APOE, Factor II & V, MTHFR, COMT genes
